Hybrid car technologies
Tuesday, July 7th, 2009Hybrid car technologies are generally used in cars and transport vehicles that are generally powered by green fuels like ethanol. They are also powered by batteries and solar panels.
These cars models especially the electric ones are powered by an onboard electric motor which can be charged at a charging station or at home. These electric motors may be of AC or DC type. Though AC motors are more preferred by people DC motors are generally used by those who transform their gas guzzling cars at home on their own.
Also the AC motors are expensive and the battery pack accompanying it take up a lot of space thus reducing efficiency and output drastically.
A better alternative is the DC motor that is user friendly in almost all aspects when compared with the AC motor.
As for the batteries used in these EV’s or electric vehicles they are of three types:
Lead acid, lithium ion and nickel metal hydride.
